Poultry farming is a significant sector in Pakistan, contributing to food security and the national economy. However, it faces challenges from various diseases, notably Hydropericardium Syndrome (HPS) and Inclusion Body Hepatitis (IBH), which have severely impacted poultry health and productivity.
Hydropericardium Syndrome, also known as “Angara disease,” causes fluid accumulation around the heart and sudden death in chickens, particularly broilers. Inclusion Body Hepatitis, another viral disease, primarily affects the liver and weakens the immune system of infected birds. Both diseases have caused substantial losses for poultry farmers in Pakistan.
To combat these issues, vaccination has become an essential tool in disease management. Vaccines developed against HPS and IBH are widely administered to poultry flocks across the country, helping reduce mortality and improve overall flock health. These vaccines stimulate the birds’ immune systems, enabling them to resist infections and minimizing the economic impact on farmers.
In Pakistan, government agencies and private poultry companies are working together to promote vaccine awareness, ensure proper administration, and enhance disease monitoring, thereby safeguarding the country’s poultry industry against these deadly diseases.
